Did Kevin Durant's mom get The Oklahoman to apologize for son's 'Mr. Unreliable' headline?

OKLAHOMA CITY, May 1 (UPI) -- The Oklahoman apparently felt bad after publishing a story with the headline “Mr. Unreliable” in reference to Oklahoma Thunder star Kevin Durant, so the paper issued an apology.

The question is, did Durant’s mother have anything to do with it?

After seeing the headline in the paper, Wanda Pratt went on Twitter and defended her son.

His little brother chimed in as well.

The paper’s sports editor, Mike Sherman, issued an apology soon afterwards.

“Thursday’s headline in The Oklahoman on Kevin Durant’s performance in the Memphis series missed the mark,” Sherman wrote. "The words were overstated and unduly harsh. The headline and presentation left the impression that we were commenting on Durant’s season, career or even character. We were not. We were referring only to the Memphis series. The fact the headline and presentation left that impression with so many readers is proof that we failed.”

Pratt was much more receptive to what another news outlet had to say about Durant.

Even if his teammate, Russell Westbrook, was not.

The Thunder and the Grizzlies will play in Memphis tonight. Memphis is leading their first-round playoff series 3-2 and will look to eliminate OKC for the second straight year.
