VACAVILLE-

Police have arrested two men and a teenage boy after the group allegedly assaulted, robbed, and stabbed a transient man in Vacaville.

At around 5 a.m. on Saturday morning, the Vacaville Police Department responded to a report of a stabbing near the 76 Gas Station on Elmira Road near Nut Tree Road.

According to police, a transient man had been sleeping when three men woke him up by throwing a beer bottle at him, then they ran away.

Soon after, the man was walking to the nearby gas station, when the 3 men confronted him once again, this time chasing the man before surrounding, physically assaulting, and robbing him of the small amount of cash he had.

During the assault, the victim was stabbed twice. He was rushed to the hospital and is expected to recover.

Officers searched the area for suspects but were unable to locate them at that time.

Just over an hour later, police received a second unrelated call of an attempted robbery near where the transient man was stabbed. According to police, a man was walking near Nut Tree Road and Summerfield Drive when a green Honda with a missing headlight pulled up next to him. The driver got out and demanded money, then the victim ran away and called police.

Police searched that area, and an officer found the car the recent victim described, and learned it was stolen from a home in Vacaville just a day earlier, according to the release.

Police tried to pull the car over, then a pursuit ensued. The driver of the car, later identified as Daniel Ortiz, crashed into a tree on Summerfield Drive. He was captured by police after trying to escape the crash on foot.

The two back seat passengers, later identified as Angel Alvarado and a 17-year-old boy who police are not releasing the name of, were arrested while still sitting in the car.

During further investigation, police concluded all three men were the suspects that attacked, robbed, and stabbed the transient victim. Police also say that Alavarado had attempted to rob the second victim and the other two suspects assisted him in doing so.
