CITRUS HEIGHTS-

Firefighters saved four dogs from a burning home in Citrus Heights. They say a large accumulation of stuff slowed their search of the home.

When firefighters arrived at the home along Brookhaven Way, they found flames coming from the attic. Neighbors reported the possibility of people inside the home, so firefighters initiated a search.

As the fire spread, firefighters say their search was hampered by items inside the home. They continued searching until the people who live at the home were located safe, away from the fire. They had both left the home earlier.

During their search, firefighters did find four dogs inside the burning home, and all four are doing well now.

SMUD had to cut power to the area because flames were threatening power lines.

Arson investigators are on scene looking into what caused the fire.
