Vin Diesel is at it again.
Not content with teasing his Guardians of the Galaxy role on social media months ahead of its official announcement, the actor has started hinting at another Marvel secret — and, potentially, another as-yet-unconfirmed Marvel movie.
On Saturday, Diesel posted a picture of his Guardians character Groot on Facebook with the caption “Vin and Marvel … you all made it happen! I get the strange feeling that Marvel thinks I’m Inhuman… Haha.”
To Marvel fans, that’s a particularly telling last line. “Inhuman,” after all, is a known concept in Marvel’s comic book universe, as well as the basis of multiple series of comics entitled Inhumans, and more recently, Inhuman. The race of genetically engineered aliens is also a concept that’s been linked to Marvel Studios in the past, with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige on record as saying it has “great potential … for a great movie.”
Whether or not Diesel is actively hinting at an Inhumans project or simply teasing the Marvel faithful isn’t likely a subject that’ll be cleared up for some time. It is, however, worth remembering something: Last year, Diesel was very clear about the fact that he initially met with Marvel Studios to talk about “a fresh IP that would come out in 2016 or 2017, and potentially launch the third phase.”
With Marvel’s two 2016 releases expected to be Captain America 3 — already scheduled for a May release — and the Doctor Strange movie that Scott Derrickson will direct, is it possible that Diesel has just revealed one of Marvel’s mystery movies scheduled for 2017?
