Potato salad has never been so profitable — or, in this case, philanthropic.
LIST The Hollywood Reporter Reveals Hollywood’s 100 Favorite Films
Kickstarter user Zach “Danger” Brown, who has received more than $38,000 after launching a campaign to raise $10 to make potato salad, stopped by Good Morning America on Tuesday to elaborate on his plans.
“It’s unbelievable,” he said of receiving pledges from more than 20 countries for his surprisingly viral campaign, launched solely with the description “Basically I’m just making potato salad. I haven’t decided what kind yet.”
The jokingly “risk-averse” Brown told the morning-show hosts that while he’s never made potato salad before, he hopes to help others with the overwhelming response he’s received.
“I want to do the most good that I can do with this,” he explained. “Kickstarter has terms of service that prohibit giving money directly to charities, but I’ve asked people on Twitter, and I want to ask people here today, just how we can take this moment, this campaign and this money and do the most good with it.”

So will he ever make potato salad? “We’ve had recipes pouring in,” he said, hinting at a voting option before a massive Columbus gathering to sample his dish. “The entire Internet is invited.”
