The first trailer for Ex Machina, the new science fiction movie from the writer of 28 Days Later and Dredd, has arrived, offering an unsettling look at the next generation of artificial intelligence and the world that’s coming.
Written and directed by Alex Garland — the movie is his directorial debut — Ex Machina stars Domhnall Gleeson as a programmer who ends up serving as the human component in a Turing Test for A.I. Ava, played by Alicia Vikander. As the trailer shows, things don’t necessarily go as easily as even that unusual premise would suggest.
The movie, recently acquired for U.S. distribution by A24, also features Oscar Isaac as Ava’s creator, Nathan Bateman.
Ex Machina will be released on April 10, 2015.
