Kanye West was celebrating the Fourth of July by performing at the Wireless Festival in London, preaching to fans about the dangers of fame, fashion and the symbolism of Kanye West. He even laughed a little!
MTV reports that the speech came during a rendition of “Runaway,” when he started a freestyle that slowly became a sermon that took couture designers like Louis Vuitton and Gucci to task for discrimination and condemned the media and “marketing” for “[selling] you back to you after they stole it.”
“You know people be looking at me like I got a problem or something, like I’m uncontrollable or something, like I don’t do what I’m supposed to do or something…That’s why I got this f-king mask on. ‘Cause I ain’t worried about saving face. F–k my face! That sounded wrong. Pause,” he said, laughing. “Well, they finally got a headline. But f–k whatever my face is supposed to mean. And f–k whatever the name Kanye is supposed to mean. It’s about my dreams.”
Watch the whole speech below, and God Bless Amerikanye.
