Locking down that two-season renewal looks smarter every day. HBO just revealed that Game of Thrones has officially taken the crown as the pay cabler’s most popular series to date.
Upping its gross season-four average from 18 million to 18.4 million ahead of the final two episodes, Game of Thrones passes the high watermark set by The Sopranos in 2002. The most-watched season of the mob drama maxed out at 18.2 million viewers.
Game of Thrones is now up 4 million viewers from the third season, and could very easily grow even more once final numbers are tallied for the remaining two episodes.
The season-four finale airs June 15.
