WOODLAND-

The Yolo County Sheriff’s Office issued a warning for the public to not handle bats after one with rabies was found in Davis.

County officials say the bat was found in a tire swing at the Davis Community Park on Aug. 13. It later tested positive for the virus.

Residents are urged to contact Yolo County Sheriff’s Animal Services if they come across a bat on the ground.

The Sheriff’s Office says several bats infected with rabies were found last year in the same park.
