SACRAMENTO-

First a championship win for Sac Republic FC, and then a tweet from Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson himself, “I think this calls for a Champions Parade Sactown Style! Who’s with me?” Johnson posted Saturday night.

Apparently, a lot of people are with him, at least according to the hundreds of replies on Twitter, but many of them are wanting to know where and when.

As of Sunday, the Mayor’s Office wouldn’t confirm details, if any, quite yet.

But a Republic FC spokesperson told FOX40 the team is in.

“We’re absolutely on-board with it. The city has only had a few championships,” said Marketing VP Erika Bjork.

In fact, the last championship was nearly a decade ago when the Sacramento Monarchs won the WNBA Championship.

Bjork says possible locations could be somewhere in downtown or midtown Sacramento. “We’re hoping to maybe have something planned on Friday,” said Bjork.

The players need time to recover and the team needs time to get city permits, according to Bjork, leaving 6 days from Sunday a likely date.

“I think we need to put our spin on it and make it special to Sacramento,” Bjork told FOX40.

What does that mean really? Well it appears to mean the “Sactown Style” Mayor Johnson tweeted about is beginning to form permanently at a place called The American Tradition Tattoo in Midtown.

“I think it’s cool when people support local Sacramento stuff,” said shop owner Ryan Tanton.

About 6 tickets to Saturday’s sold-out game were traded for tattoos of the Sac Republic FC logo at Tanton’s shop, funded by the Tower Bridge Battalion.

Meanwhile, Bjork tells FOX40 the team will file for a parade permit with the city first thing Monday morning.
