LOUISVILLE, Kentucky (CNN)-

Authorities are searching for a suspect after a shooting at a high school in Kentucky left one student injured, a spokeswoman said.

The shooting took place Tuesday afternoon at Fern Creek High School in Louisville. It was not immediately clear whether it happened inside or outside the school.

One student was transported to a local hospital with unknown injuries, said Jody Duncan, a spokeswoman for EMA-MetroSafe. She said that at least one suspect was being sought.

The shooting prompted a lockdown at the high school and at an area elementary school. School officials were in the process of connecting students with their parents, she said.
