Just like Steve Jobs, last year’s biopic of the Apple co-founder starring Ashton Kutcher and Josh Gad is gone but not forgotten.
Three Point Capital has filed a lawsuit in Texas federal court against producers of the $12 million film Jobs.
According to the complaint, The Five Star Institute, run by Mark Hulme, signed a promissory note on a $2.65 million loan. As of this week, says the lawsuit, $2.14 million is owed, with interest accruing daily.
The Five Star Institute and The Jobs Film LLC are being sued for breach of contract, money had and received, and unjust enrichment. For now, the plaintiff only seeks money. There’s no demand to seize rights to the film.
Hulme, who runs a real estate publishing company, hasn’t yet responded to a request for comment. Jobs is the only film he’s produced.
Jobs was a critical disappointment and reaped about $16 million in domestic box office and another $20 million in foreign revenue. Sony Pictures is now working on a new Steve Jobs film but has lost acclaimed director David Fincher at the helm over upfront fees.
