Marvel Entertainment continues to celebrate its 75th anniversary with the announcement Tuesday of 75 Years of Marvel: From the Golden Age to the Silver Screen, a mammoth retrospective of the company’s history written by former editor-in-chief Roy Thomas and published by European art book publisher Taschen.
The book will include essays on both characters and creators from Thomas, a veteran of runs on titles including Avengers, X-Men and Fantastic Four, as well as thousands of images including rare artwork, merchandise and other ephemera little seen outside of the company itself.

Edited and art directed by Josh Baker, the 720 page oversized hardcover will also feature a 4 foot-long “accordion-fold timeline” of Marvel Entertainment from its 1939 beginnings as Timely Comics through its current blockbuster movie studio status that’s described by the company as being “suitable for framing.”
75 Years of Marvel follows in the footsteps of Taschen’s 2010 release 75 Years of DC Comics: The Art of Modern Mythmaking, written by former DC president Paul Levitz, a similar compendium of history and archive material that was popular enough to be expanded into a series of titles starting with last year’s The Golden Age of DC Comics and running through The Silver Age of DC Comics and this November’s The Bronze Age of DC Comics.
75 Years of Marvel: From the Golden Age to the Silver Screen will be published in the fall.
