SACRAMENTO-

Dozens of tractors made their way through Capitol Mall Friday.

It was the first event for the 2014 Farm to Fork Celebration.  Crowds lined the street to watch 35 tractors roll through.

“Sacramento found such an identity with local produce and it’s just a huge part of what Sacramento is,” Farm to Fork spokesperson Sidney Scheideman said.

Scheideman says the idea of the tractor parade is to bring people face to face with the farmers that grow, pick and sell our local produce.

This is the 2nd-annual Farm to Fork event.  Last year it was only a week -long, and it was so popular that organizers decided to extend it another week this year.

Farm to Fork continues through Sept. 28 with a Gala Dinner on the tower bridge.  Tickets to that have sold out, but there are plenty of other events happening throughout the next two weeks.
