Rake‘s Bojana Novakovic is making some insurance plans.
The actress, who plays Greg Kinnear‘s love interest on Fox’s freshman drama, has been tapped to star as the title character in ABC’s Agatha, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. The role is in second position to Rake, meaning should Fox renew the show for a sophomore run, ABC would need to recast the role.

Agatha is a character-driven procedural centering on Agatha, a former convict-turned-big-city criminologist who is brought in to help local police crack a case involving a perplexing disappearance. The chief detective she’s been hired to help is her father — and they haven’t spoken in 15 years.
Novakovic’s Agatha is a perceptive woman who left her blue collar Philly upbringing behind to lead a sophisticated Upper West Side life in New York. When a local girl goes missing, Agatha returns to the home she abandoned 15 years ago after the disappearance of her kid sister, to the estranged father and kid brother she left behind.

Novakovic’s credits include Satisfaction, The Cooks and the ABC miniseries Marking Time. She’s repped by CAA, Management 360 Lisa Mann in Australia and Bob Wallerstein at Hirsch Wallerstein..
The Whole Truth‘s Tom Donaghy will pen the script and executive produce the ABC Studios drama alongside the Mark Gordon Co.’s Mark Gordon, Nicholas Pepper and Michael McDonald. Jace Alexander is set to direct the pilot, which will film in Toronto.
For its part, Fox recently moved Rake from its prime Thursday slot to Fridays at 9 p.m. starting March 14. This week’s episode held steady at an underwhelming 0.8 among adults 18-49.
