Comedian Paul F. Tompkins is heading to ABC.
Tompkins will star in ABC’s New Hampshire-set family single-camera comedy from executive producer Brian Gallivan opposite Molly Shannon.
The untitled single-camera comedy (formerly known as Bambi Cottages) centers on an overworked father (Tompkins) dreaming of being “on vacation all year” who moves his family, the Burkes, from the city to New Hampshire, where they open a group of tourist cottages.

Tompkins will play the charming and likable Teddy, who describes himself as a dreamer — and there’s little that can quash Teddy’s child-like optimism and lively spirit. He and his wife Cathleen (Shannon) may be complete opposites but they are still very much in love after 19 years of marriage and six kids.
Shiloh Nelson, Tessa Albertson, Ty Parker, Charlie Kilgore and Connor Kalopsis co-star as the Burke children.
Gallivan (The McCarthys) will pen the script for the Sony Pictures Television and ABC Studios co-production. Olive Bridge’s Will Gluck and Richie Schwartz will executive produce. Phil Traill is set to direct the pilot.
Tompkins is repped by CAA and Avalon Management. He has appeared in Comedy Bang Bang!, The L.A. Complex, The Sarah Silverman Program and lent his voice to Bob’s Burgers, and was a writer on Real Time With Bill Maher. Tompkins also appears in the popular theater show Thrilling Adventure Hour.
