Joshua Gomez has joined the single-camera comedy pilot Ellen More or Less in a co-starring role, while newcomer Tate Ellington is set as the male lead, The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively.
Ellen More or Less centers on Ellen (Stacey McGunnigle), an average-sized woman who begins to reinvent her life (and love life) after she loses 100 pounds. Chris Diamantopoulos co-stars.

Gomez will play the thirtysomething Craig, Ellen’s co-worker, who is described as too clueless to be mean, neurotic and requires hand-holding. Ellington is set as Brian, Ellen’s oldest friend and co-worker who may have romantic feelings for her.
Philbin (New Girl) will pen the script and executive produce the Universal Television comedy alongside Parenthood and About a Boy‘s Katims and Michelle Lee. Peyton Reed (New Girl) will direct the pilot.
Gomez’s casting marks a return to NBC, where he starred as Morgan opposite Zachary Levi in the cult hit Chuck, and he has since guest-starred in Castle and The Crazy Ones. He is repped by Progressive Artists Agency and Pop Art Management.
Ellington’s credits include CBS’ Bad Teacher and NCIS. He also was featured in the Zoe Kazan play Trudy and Max in Love. He’s repped by DBA, Authentic and Peikoff/Mahan.
