The Santa Barbara International Film Festival announced on Wedensday that the ninth annual recipient of its Kirk Douglas Award for Excellence in Film will be actress Jessica Lange.

The honor will be presented to the two-time Oscar winner and two-time Emmy winner — possibly by Douglas himself — on Nov. 16 at a black-tie gala dinner at the Bacara Resort & Spa in Santa Barbara.
“Jessica Lange possess the three key elements in making it in this crazy business: talent, beauty and intelligence, all of which have served her well and continue to do so,” says Douglas, who will turn 98 a week before the event. “It is my honor to give her my award.“
The previous eight recipients of the honor were Kirk Douglas himself, Harrison Ford, Quentin Tarantino, John Travolta, Ed Harris, Douglas’ son Michael Douglas, Robert De Niro, and, last year, Forest Whitaker.

Lange, 65, who was nominated this month for the best actress in a miniseries or movie Emmy for her work on FX’s American Horror Story: Coven, is one of the most respected actresses of her generation. She won the best supporting actress Oscar for Tootsie (1982) and the best actress Oscar for Blue Sky (1994), while also scoring four other nominations. For her work on the small screen, she has received six Emmy nominations, winning best actress in a miniseries or movie for Grey Gardens (2009) and best supporting actress in a miniseries or movie for American Horror Story (2012).
The 2015 Santa Barbara International Film Festival will take place from Jan. 27 through Feb. 7.
