Barbara Walters is poised to retire from TV journalism — but not before taking a jab back at Saturday Night Live, which has mocked her and her distinctive voice for decades.
Walters showed up on Weekend Update seeking payback after a montage of her best SNL moments played.

“What an honor it was to see my groundbreaking career in journalism be reduced to a cartoon character with a ridiculous voice,” she said before taking jabs at Update co-anchors Cecily Strong and Colin Jost. (Yes, she did utter her famous SNL name, Baba Wawa.)
Host Charlize Theron played against type with a series of characters utterly lacking sex appeal. She teamed up with Nasim Pedrad for an ill-fated seminar on how to get men, and later paired with Kate McKinnon to play the ultimate cat lady.
Earlier, Michelle Obama (Sasheer Zamata) and Hillary Clinton (Vanessa Bayer) compared notes over who was the more accomplished first lady, mother and woman. Clinton noted that she’d spent years dealing with horrible humanitarian crises, “but I suppose it’s also tough to get a chubby kid to eat an apple” — a jab at Obama’s Let’s Move Campaign.
SNL struck gold with the late-episode addition of a wacky short on tourists in New York. It defies being explained — just watch.
SNL has its season finale next week, with host Andy Samberg returning home and musical guest St. Vincent.
