Wolverine may be dying in September’s much-hyped weekly Death of Wolverine mini-series, but if you thought that meant that Marvel Entertainment would stop publishing Wolverine comics, clearly you’re new here. Instead, the publisher has announced a new seven part series exploring the character’s legacy to launch in October.
Each issue of Death of Wolverine: The Logan Legacy will be written and drawn by a different creative team and spotlight a different member of the X-Man’s supporting cast as they process the death of the popular character.
STORY Marvel to Promote ‘Death of Wolverine’ With ‘Memorial Kits’
Talking to Marvel.com, writer Charles Soule, who’s writing the Death of Wolverine series as well as the first and final issues of The Logan Legacy, said that Wolverine’s death is something “that has seismic-level effects on the lives of a great deal of the Marvel Universe,” and that the newly-announced series is just the start of examining those effects.
Beyond giving a spotlight to characters such as Lady Deathstrike and Daken (Wolverine’s son, who has died himself in the past, only to be returned to life by later writers), The Logan Legacy is notable for bringing a number of writers from DC to Marvel for the first time, including James Tynion IV and Marguerite Bennett.
