HEROIC MOVES: For three weeks in a row, new artists saw their live results show performances reap rewards on the Billboard charts. Jake Bugg, Kodaline and Mali Music all surged on the surveys after finding a nationwide audience on American Idol. This week, a veteran band’s latest single and album regain ground thanks to an invite to perform on the newly formatted half-hour results show. Daughtry, featuring season five alum Chris Daughtry, is enjoying renewed success with “Waiting for Superman,” which soars 50 to 27 on Pop Digital Songs in its 26th week on the chart. “Superman” also shows its strength on Adult Contemporary, where it’s up from 16 to 15.
Daughtry’s parent album, Baptized, re-enters the Billboard 200 at No. 89 and rockets from 195 to 85 on Top Current Albums. The set also returns to Top Rock Albums at No. 24.
‘FIRE’ MAN: Phillip Phillips‘ new single, “Raging Fire,” continues to heat up on multiple airplay charts. The song is a new entry at No. 27 on Adult Contemporary and moves up 14 to 12 on Adult Top 40. Over on Triple A (Adult Album Alternative), “Fire” rises from 25 to 24. It’s doing even better on Triple A Audience, where it bullets 28 to 20.
“Fire” is also proving to be hot when it comes to sales. The track climbs from 35 to 33 on Pop Digital Songs. On the Canadian Hot 100, “Fire” marches from 92 to 85.
Meanwhile, Phillips’ first hit, “Home,” is still having a run on Mainstream Top 40 Recurrents, where it advances from 39 to 34 in its 97th week on the chart. And Phillips’ debut album, The World from the Side of the Moon, re-enters Top Current Albums at No. 177.

BITS AND PIECES: Mandisa‘s new single, “Back to You,” is having early success, with a move of 46 to 43 on Hot Christian Songs and 27 to 26 on Christian Hot AC. On Christian Adult Contemporary, the tune is holding at No. 27… Danny Gokey‘s “Hope in Front of Me” debuts at No. 50 on Hot Christian Songs, improves 34 to 31 on Christian Airplay and slips 29 to 30 on Christian Adult Contemporary but earns a bullet, indicating an increase in radio spins over last week … Jennifer Hudson‘s “I Can’t Describe (The Way I Feel)” stands pat at No. 13 on Adult R&B … On that same chart, Ruben Studdard’s “Love, Love, Love” spends a third week at No. 25. His album, Unconditional Love, re-enters Top R&B Albums at No. 22 and Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums at No. 49 … Candice Glover’s “Cried” is up 24 to 23 on Adult R&B Audience … Kellie Pickler‘s latest, “Closer to Nowhere,” holds at No. 57 on the Country Detections airplay chart.
