NEVADA COUNTY-
A Nevada County supervisor is under investigation for some alleged inappropriate internet searches.
Now, the Sheriff’s Office wants to know if those searches happened on his work computer while Terry Lamphier was on the clock.
Lamphier has not been charged with a crime or arrested.
“He’s still supervisor, he still has the position, he is still free to come and go,” Sheriff Keith Royal said. “I don’t think he will be charged. It will take time to process.”
Investigators say high activity was observed on Oct. 13, a work day, starting at 11:30 a.m. and lasting for about 10 minutes.
Royal said some of the search terms used led the user to child pornography.
“These children were underage, looked between 6 and 10 and they were nude pictures,” Royal said.
Five separate reports were made over a five-week period. One report looked at the period of time between Oct. 13 through Oct. 17, and showed nearly 2,500 images labeled as “unacceptable” and “pornography.”
Lamphier’s Grass Valley home was also searched.
“We secured a warrant. That information was sealed by the court,” Royal said.
Sheriff Royal said he doesn’t believe the investigation will be over before the Nov. 4 general election.
Lamphier was absent from Tuesday’s board meeting, according to the Grass Valley Union newspaper.
