Fox’s freshman series Red Band Society is adding some muscle to the writers room.
The hospital drama has enlisted Mistresses writer and executive producer Rina Mimoun, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. Mimoun will serve in the same capacity and work alongside series creator Margaret Nagle.

Red Band Society, from ABC Studios, focuses on the daily lives of a group of teenagers living in a hospital who become unlikely friends. The depth of the unexpected friendships allows them to survive the challenges of growing up under such challenging circumstances. Octavia Spencer stars as a snarky yet caring nurse alongside “hot doc” Dave Annable.
With the second season of Mistresses in the can, Mimoun will board Red Band Society under her overall deal with ABC Studios. Should Mistresses earn a third season, she would resume work on that series as well. She brings years of experience — on series including Hart of Dixie, Eastwick, Privileged, Gilmore Girls, Jack & Jill and more — to the series overseen by first-year showrunner Nagle.
Mimoun is repped by UTA and Felker Toczek.
The news comes two days after Fox presented Red Band Society at the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour, where Nagle told reporters that the series, based on the Spanish series Polseres Vermelles, had a semi-autobiographical component to it and that viewers shouldn’t expect its young subjects to be killed off.
Red Band Society debuts Wednesday, Sept. 17, at 9 p.m. on Fox.
