ABC’s Modern Family is bringing in a fierce teacher for Lily.
Tyne Daly has boarded the Emmy-winning comedy series, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Daly will guest star in “Won’t You Be Our Neighbor,” the fourth episode of Modern Family‘s upcoming sixth season, and play Mrs. Plank, Lily’s (Aubrey Anderson-Emmons) stern, old-school teacher.
The Emmy (Judging Amy, Christy, Cagney & Lacey) and Tony winner (Gypsy) joins the previously announced recurring guest stars Steve Zahn and Andrea Anders in the episode. The duo will play Ronnie and Kim, a “horrible” family who moves in next door to the Dunphy family.
Daly, repped by Innovative and Anonymous Content, most recently appeared in episodes of Burn Notice and Grey’s Anatomy.
Modern Family, which just won its fifth straight best comedy Emmy, returns Wednesday, Sept. 24 at 9 p.m. on ABC.
