Just one of several cars smashed by vandals early Monday morning.

ANTELOPE-

It was not the best way to start a Monday, but several residents along Shandwick Drive near Walerga Road spent their morning sweeping up glass after vandals busted several car windows parked along the street.

“As I was walking to take my son over to the bus I saw there was a total of seven cars,” Antelope resident Claudia Palacuelos said.

Residents say they did not hear anything, but believe the vandalism happened sometime before 5 a.m.

People told FOX40 this is not the first time their street has been targeted.

“Unfortunately we have been hit on this road a couple of times, different vehicles,” Blanca Montiel, whose car window was smashed this time around, said. “Usually it is just one or two cars.”

Palacuelos says she started parking her car along Shandwick because car break-ins tend to be more frequent in her gated apartment complex.

“I have always loved Antelope and I always thought it would be a little safer,” Palacuelos said.

Some good news came from a friendly neighbor who left a note on all damaged cars, telling residents he will help them in any way he can.
