STOCKTON-
Family members gathering at a vigil for the man who was shot to death at a Stockton gas station Saturday night identified the victim as 18 year old Troy King.
Stockton police were called out to a Chevron gas station at the 8600 block of Lower Sacramento Road just before midnight Saturday. The say the victim was pronounced dead at the scene, from a gun shot wound. Police confirm their preliminary investigation revealed the victim was confronted while getting gas and subsequently shot.
King’s mother, Mochandria Tucker, told FOX40 Sunday night that her son may have known his attacker. She said King was a good man and was not involved in gangs or with drugs. She said she thinks he was confronted because he was a big guy and people often thought he was much older than 18 years old.
“He told me, I’m gonna get my life together. I’m a man. I’m gonna get a job, an apartment. But at the same time he told me, I feel that death is near. Because Stockton is crazy, Stockton is crazy,” said Tucker.
Shortly after, an emotionally drained Tucker collapsed in the parking lot and was taken to an area hospital for an evaluation.
Tucker said the suspect was a asian male in a black car, and that he fled to a nearby apartment complex after the shooting. She said two other males were seen in the back seat.
In a press release, Stockton police confirm the suspect was described as an Asian man.
