SOMERSET-

Jolyne Kaiser knows all too well what can happen in a big fire.

“We just lost our house two months ago to a fire, and we had just gotten back into the new house,” Kaiser said.

So when it came time to evacuate for the destructive Sand Fire, she was very worried. Firefighters worked relentlessly, battling to keep the flames from spreading further.

Cal Fire says 20 homes burned in the fire, which consumed more than 4,200 acres of Amador County.

Once Kaiser was allowed back into the area.

“A ton of relief,” she said.

But Kaiser wanted to pay it forward, after experiencing the kindness from the community after they lost their home two months ago.

“But at the same time, I wanted to get out and help other people,” kaiser said.

At the Pioneer Bible Church, the community gave a big shout out to all the firefighters for the hard work of keeping them safe.
