The secret society of monsters and outsiders created by Clive Barker is making its return later this month with the upcoming release of Clive Barker’s Nightbreed, a new series from Boom! Studios.
The series, penned by the writer of DC Entertainment’s Batwoman, Marc Andreyko, and drawn by Marvel’s Marvel Knights: Hulk artist Piotr Kowalski, will focus on the early days of two inhabitants of the secret city of Midian, which made its first appearance in Barker’s 1988 novel Cabal, the basis for the 1990 Nightbreed movie.

Boom! editor-in-chief Matt Gagnon likened the new venture to Boom!’s Hellraiser series, saying in a statement that he believed that the publisher has “the makings of a fan-favorite horror series right out the gate with this one.”
The first issue of the series will be available digitally and in comic specialty stores May 28, with covers by Riley Rossmo, Umbral and Wasteland artist Christopher Mitten and Hellboy creator Mike Mignola.
