VACAVILLE-

Just before sunrise Wednesday morning, fire crews responded to a 911 call about a fire behind the Mercier Grapevine Nursery in Vacaville.

After putting the flames out in what was once a tractor shed behind nursery, crews came across something they weren’t expecting – a body.

“You’ve got a structure that has burned. In the process of fighting that fire, a body is found inside of it,” Solano County firefighter Darryl Snedeker said. “Because this isn’t a residence and it is a shed, that makes this suspicious in nature.”

A severely burned body was recovered next to several tractors and a burn pile.

Investigators aren’t sure if some type of accident happened in the shed, or if something else happened.

The Solano County Sheriff’s Department tells FOX40 all employees of the nursery have been accounted for.

Nursery General Manager Sebestian Traviesa declined to comment Wednesday.

Investigators do not believe he is a suspect, but tell FOX40, they have not ruled him out yet.

The nursery’s website indicates it opened in 2006 and the business exports grapevines internationally.

Investigators say the body could not be immediately identified because it had been so badly burned.
