As the King Fire spreads from El Dorado County to Placer County, the number of firefighters on scene continues to rise as well.

The King Fire has been burning for one week, and is currently 10% contained.

According to CAL FIRE, The fire has burned 126 square miles of land, and firefighters are trying to assess how many homes have actually been damaged or destroyed by the fire.

While over 2,800 people have been evacuated because of the fire’s blaze, there are nearly 5,000 fire personnel fighting the fire, both on the ground and from the sky.

A spot fire on the northern end of the fire by French Meadows Reservoir has grown to around 500 acres.

There is an evacuation shelter at the Camino Seventh-day Adventist Church at 3520 Carson Road in Camino (map). There are currently mandatory evacuations in Forebay, East Bullion Bend area, White Meadows area, Mosquito, Swansboro area, Volcanoville, Quintette, Blodgette, Upper Ice House Area, Crystal Basin, Icehouse, and Upper Wentworth Springs area.
