Rory Albanese did not stray from Comedy Central for long.
Less than a year after The Daily Show showrunner departed after a 14-year tenure with the broadcast, he’s heading back to the cable network to lead The Minority Report with Larry Wilmore. Comedy Central’s 11:30 p.m. follow-up to the exiting Colbert Report will reunite Albanese and Daily Show correspondent Wilmore.

Albanese departed The Daily Show after four seasons as showrunner, inking a development deal with Warner Bros. TV, where he briefly developed a comedy with CBS.
Set to premiere in January 2015, things are slowly starting to ramp up for the Minority Report. Just yesterday Wilmore told reporters that he would shift focus to the new show completely sometime in September, after several months working as showrunner on the new ABC comedy, Black-ish.
Stephen Colbert closes his tenure at The Colbert Report in December before taking the reins at CBS’ Late Show sometime in 2015 following David Letterman‘s retirement.
