Storm drops more than 16 inches of snow on Squaw and Alpine

The winter storm moving through the Sierra Nevada has now delivered 16 inches of fresh snow to Squaw Valley and 17 inches to Alpine Meadows since the snow began to fall early Friday morning. The snow is expected to continue into the evening, bringing a thick blanket of fresh powder to Squaw and Alpine’s slopes.

Both mountains are still open, making Squaw and Alpine the only North Lake Tahoe resorts to currently offer skiing and riding. Squaw Valley is slated to stay open through Sunday, April 27. Alpine Meadows is currently open, and scheduled to stay open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays into May.
