USA Network has found its Mr. Robot.
Christian Slater has been tapped to topline the cable network’s hacker drama pilot, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
From Universal Cable Productions, the drama centers on a young programmer, Elliot (Rami Malek, 24), who suffers from an antisocial disorder and can only connect to people by hacking them.

Slater will star as Mr. Robot, a mysterious anarchist who recruits Elliot into an underground hacker organization intent on bringing down corporate America.
The role marks Slater’s latest small-screen gig. Last season, he starred on ABC’s Kyle Killen drama Mind Games. His TV credits also include Breaking In, The Forgotten, My Own Worst Enemy, Robot Chicken, The West Wing and, most recently, Archer. He’s repped by UTA.
Slater joins a cast that includes Martin Wallstrom, Carly Chaikin and Portia Doubleday.
Sam Esmail (Comet) will pen the script and executive produce alongside Anonymous Content’s Steve Golin (True Detective), Chad Hamilton (Breakup at a Wedding) and Niels Arden Oplev (Under the Dome).
