Drivers Brace for Traffic Nightmare with Fix 50 ProjectSACRAMENTO-

Traffic in the heart of Sacramento is going to be at its worst when Caltrans begins highway construction on April 22nd, so Sacramento city leaders are spending $1.3 million to manage the traffic nightmare. Caltrans plans to reimburse the city up to the full $1.3 million for the Fix 50 project, which will last through June 25th.

The money goes toward more police, and traffic signal adjustments.

“Really our goal is to coordinate with traffic engineers and timing traffic signals to make sure stuff is going smoothly,” says Captain Jackie Dowden of the Sacramento Police. “so what people should do is plan an alternate route. It’s not going to be horrible.”

Caltrans will be closing two of the five lanes to repair the bridge deck, and widening the shoulders on the road.

Expect one hour delays if you plan to drive through or take nearby surface streets.
