The American Society of Cinematographers Color Decision List (ASC CDL)—developed by the ASC Technology Committee with contributions from a broad group of industry participants—will receive the Hollywood Post Alliance Judges Award for Creativity and Innovation in Postproduction.
On Tuesday, HPA revealed that it will present two Creativity and Innovation Awards and three Engineering Excellence Awards, during the 9th annual HPA Awards, Nov. 6 at the Skirball Cultural Center. The nominations in the 12 competitive categories for color grading, editing, sound and visual effects were previously announced.
Widely used in motion picture and television production, the ASC CDL was developed to help maintain and communicate creative intent, from production through post, in a multi-facility and multi-vendor environment.
DigitalFilm Tree will additionally received a Creativity and Innovation Award, for its cloud post workflow initiative, which takes advantage of OpenStack open source cloud computing software.
The HPA Engineering Excellence Award honorees are Macom, for its 12G-SDI chipset; Nvidia, for its Visual Computing Appliance; and Wohler and Cinnafilm, for their Tachyon Wormhole file-based retiming and transcoding system.
