The 2014 Teen Choice Awards, which had an 11th hour venue change thanks to the recent flooding at UCLA, brought a steady showing on Sunday night — averaging a 0.8 rating among adults 18-49.
But how many adults in the group really care about the kudos? The show fared much stronger with its targeted set and general voting body, earning a 2.7 rating among teenagers. Teen Choice also held steady with last year in total viewers with 2.6 million. (Read the complete winners list here.)
Sunday’s real winner was golf overage. Ahead of time zone adjustments, the two hours of the PGA Championship that crept into primetime took a 2.4 rating among adults 18-49. Subsequent CBS airings — 60 Minutes (1.4 adults) and Big Brother (1.7 adults) — will see shifts once time zones are taken into account.
The only other competition was ABC’s combo of Wipeout (0.8 adults) and Rising Star (0.7 adults). Both shed two-tenths of a point from last week.
