SACRAMENTO COUNTY-

Out of the pages of the history books, now sitting at Mather Field.

“You can look in a book and learn about history, but it really opens the door to people, to see them flying, and watch them go through the sky,” Steven Hinton, with Planes of Fame, said.

And soon, many planes will be soaring over Sacramento County for the California Capital Airshow.

The event will feature military and civilian jets, world class aerobatics and parachute demonstrations.

But for Hinton, the job calls for showing off two birds.

“We brought two planes, and which is the blue plane,  a Navy fighter and the Lockheed p38 lightning, devil.”

Hinton came to Sacramento from the Planes of Fame Museum in Chino.

He came early to prepare for the big show on September 6-7.

It’s one he never misses. He says there will be around 40 warbirds this year.

A celebration of passion, pride and patriotism, on the ground and in the sky.

“(I’m) Here to honor the veterans,  fly, have a good time and mingle with a great crowd.  This is one the best airshows you will ever see,” Hinton said.

FOX40 is a proud sponsor of the California Capital Airshow. Join us at Mather Field Saturday and Sunday, September 6-7. Find more information here.
