Move over, Allison Williams. NBC’s Today show is getting into the live-musical game as well.
The NBC morning show will air an 18-minute live musical, featuring the Today anchors and crew, sometime before the end of the year, written by co-host Kathie Lee Gifford.
The show, called Not Today and Tomorrow’s Not Looking Good Either, was announced during the fourth hour of Today on Friday, where Gifford also revealed that Friday’s guest co-host Regis Philbin would be a guest star in the musical.
The production is NBC’s latest foray into the live-musical genre, following a broadcast of The Sound of Music last year and a planned production of Peter Pan, starring Williams as the titular boy who refuses to grow up.
Gifford said the Today musical will air before Peter Pan’s planned Dec. 4 broadcast.
