After nearly 30 years of delivering top 10 lists, David Letterman has announced they’ll soon be a thing of the past.
The host has put a vague 2015 date on his departure, so he still has plenty of time to play with his trademark Top 10 list segment, which through the years has welcomed presidential candidates, Oscar winners and even Homer Simpson.

A year ahead of the 2012 presidential election, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney delivered the top 10 things he would like to say to the American people. Among them? “Isn’t it time for a President who looks like a 1970s gameshow host?”

In 2008, then-Senator Barack Obama delivered his top 10 campaign promises, vowing to “find money in the budget to buy Letterman a decent hairpiece.”

Homer Simpson is among just a few animated characters to have presented a Top 10 list. In 2007, he made his case for why he should be the next president: “My middle name isn’t Hussein — anymore.” He came back in 2010 to present what he’d learned during 20 years in television.
Eminem shared his pieces of advice for the kids in 2010. Among the gems from the stone-faced rapper: “No one’s ever regretted a tattoo.”
To coincide with fellow TV icon Bob Barker‘s 2007 retirement from The Price is Right, the game show host appeared to reveal the 10 things he can say now that he’s retiring. No. 7: “Slip daddy some cash and the showcase showdown wheel lands wherever you want.”
In 1999, the same year John Malkovich went meta with Being John Malkovich, the actor did it again by reading the top 10 things that sound creepy when said by John Malkovich.
