An American Idol hopeful trying out in Nashville got something better than just a golden ticket. The series released a clip on Thursday that shows a brave soul, who remains anonymous but auditioned with “Stay With Me” by Sam Smith, scored a slow dance with Jennifer Lopez.
“Dance with you right now?” asked the judge after his pivotal moment. “What kind of dancing? Because my heels are really high.”
Keith Urban strapped on the gentleman’s acoustic guitar and harmonized, while Harry Connick Jr. — who also shouted, “I want to get in on this!” — played a piano.
While he tried to be a gentleman, holding the judge’s hand as if they were at a high school prom, Lopez instead pulled him closer and even put her head on his shoulder. “This is so sweet,” she said. “This is the most fun I’ve had in months.”
American Idol returns January 2015 on Fox. Watch the video below.
