HERE’S HOPING: A few weeks ago, Danny Gokey earned his first-ever Billboard No. 1, when his album Hope in Front of Me debuted in pole position on Top Christian Albums. Now, the season eight alum could collect his first No. 1 single as early as next week, thanks to the title song’s two-point jump to No. 2 on the Christian Airplay chart.
The song that “Hope” has to outperform is “We Believe” by the Newsboys. That single is in the 13th week of its reign on this tally. No matter what happens, by moving up to second place, “Hope” has set an important mark by reaching its highest position to date on any Billboard chart.
“Hope” is strong on other Billboard charts as well. It rises 8 to 5 on Christian Adult Contemporary, 7 to 4 on Hot Christian Songs, 25 to 23 on Christian Hot AC and its crossover journey continues on the main Adult Contemporary chart, where it nudges up 28 to 27.
All of this action on the title song explains why Gokey’s album rebounds 30 to 25 on Top Christian Albums.

LEAVE ‘EM WANTING ‘MORE’: Danny Gokey isn’t the only Idol with something to celebrate on the Christian charts this week. Colton Dixon‘s current single, “More of You,” leaps 25 to 18 on Christian Airplay and is named this week’s “Greatest Gainer,” meaning it has the largest airplay increase of any song on the chart. That helps fuel a move of 18 to 13 on Hot Christian Songs. “More” is also up from 9 to 6 on Christian Hot AC and holds at No. 22 on Christian Adult Contemporary.
“More of You” will be included on Dixon’s sophomore album, Anchor, scheduled for release on Aug. 19.
BITS AND PIECES: Scotty McCreery‘s latest single has a great sales week. “Feelin’ It” jumps 42 to 35 on Country Digital Songs and is up 30 to 29 on Hot Country Songs. His album See You Tonight moves back up Top Country Albums, from 35 to30… Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood‘s duet, “Somethin’ Bad,” is up 9 to 8 on Hot Country Songs while holding at No. 8 on Country Digital Songs and improving 62 to 60 on the Canadian Hot 100… “First Love” by Jennifer Lopez breaks into the top 10 of the Hot Dance Club Play chart, soaring 16 to 7… Daughtry’s “Battleships” sails 30 to 29 on Adult Top 40… The new Jennifer Hudson and R. Kelly single, “It’s Your World,” spins 25 to 24 on Adult R&B. It’s the follow-up to “Walk It Out” by Hudson and Timbaland. That song is still charting, with a slide of 28 to 30… No movement for Phillip Phillips‘ “Raging Fire,” which spends another week at No. 15 on Adult Contemporary.
