GAINING NEW GROUND: Released in advance of his sophomore album, Phillip Phillips‘ single “Raging Fire” continues to heat up, with improved rankings on three Billboard charts and one international survey.
“Raging Fire” ranks highest on Adult Top 40, where the single advances from No. 17 to No. 14 and earns Billboard’s “Greatest Gainer” designation. That means “Raging Fire” makes the biggest gain in airplay of any song on the chart.
“Fire” is also climbing on Triple A (Adult Album Alternative), a radio format that gave the season 10 American Idol his first No. 1 hit. The track is up from No. 30 to No 28.
On Pop Digital Songs, “Fire” breaks into the top 40, burning a trail from No. 41 to No. 35. And looking outside of the U.S., “Fire” inches up from No. 93 to No. 92 on the Canadian Hot 100.

OVERCOMING: The first single from Mandisa’s Overcomer, the album’s title track, has had such a strong run on the Christian charts that there hasn’t been a need for a follow-up — until now. While the initial single is in its 44th week on the charts, that second release finally arrives. “Back to You” debuts at No. 27 on Christian Hot AC, while rising 30 to 29 on Christian Adult Contemporary, 49 to 46 on Christian Songs and 31 to 26 on Christian Airplay.
“Overcomer” is still in the top 10 on a couple of charts and the top 15 on two other lists. It ranks highest on Christian Digital Songs, where it holds at No. 7 in its 38th week. On Hot Christian Songs, it slides from 8 to 9 in its 44th week. On Christian Adult Contemporary, “Overcomer” is down 10 to 11 in its 41st week and on Christian Airplay it dips from 10 to 12 in week 44.
The parent album falls from 10 to 15 in its 31st week on Top Christian Albums.
BITS AND PIECES: Daughtry‘s “Waiting for Superman” could get a big boost next week, thanks to the band’s performance on Thursday night’s results show. For now, the song is up one spot, from 17 to 16 on Adult Contemporary… Ruben Studdard‘s “Love, Love, Love” holds at No. 25 on Adult R&B… on that same chart Fantasia‘s “Side Effects of You” climbs 29 to 28… Lucy Hale‘s “You Sound Good to Me” jumps from 52 to 47 on Country Airplay… Danny Gokey‘s “Hope in Front of Me” travels 30 to 29 on Christian Adult Contemporary and improves 40 to 34 on Christian Airplay… Keith Urban‘s “Cop Car” debuts at No. 46 on the multi-genre Radio Songs tally. On Country Airplay, the song drives 15 to 13.
