Another Mad Men star is turning to comedy for a follow-up.
Christina Hendricks has been tapped to co-star in Showtime’s Cameron Crowe comedy pilot Roadies, The Hollywood Reporter has learned .
The hourlong comedy follows the day-to-day life of a successful rock tour as seen through the crewmembers who get the show on the road.

Hendricks, who stars as Joan Harris on AMC’s Mad Men, will play Shelli, the band’s production manager and Bill’s (Luke Wilson) ingenious work partner. She is described as tough but privately emotional, married to her job and scary good at it.
Crowe, who won the best original screenplay Oscar for 2000 rock drama Almost Famous, is writing and directing the pilot, which will film in Vancouver in early 2015. Winnie Holzman (My So-Called Life) and J.J. Abrams are onboard to executive produce the comedy from Warner Bros. Television, Bad Robot, Vinyl Films and Dooley & Company Productions. Holzman will serve as showrunner, with Bad Robot’s Bryan Burk and Kathy Lingg signed on as executive producer and co-executive producer, respectively.

Hendricks joins a cast that also includes The Look of Love‘s Imogen Poots, Whale Rider‘s Keisha Castle-Hughes , NCIS: Los Angeles‘ Peter Cambor and Prometheus‘ Rafe Spall.
Hendricks is a five-time Emmy nominee whose feature credits include Drive, Ginger & Rosa and Ryan Gosling‘s directorial debut Lost River. She is repped by ICM Partners and LINK.
Hendricks becomes the latest Mad Men star to explore comedy following the upcoming conclusion of AMC’s critical darling. Co-star January Jones booked a series-regular role on Fox’s upcoming comedy The Last Man on Earth, starring Will Forte. Jon Hamm has been flexing his comedy chops on Saturday Night Live and Showtime’s Web Therapy as well as Childrens Hospital, 30 Rock and Bridesmaids. More recently, he popped up in the season finale of NBC’s Parks and Recreation and will return for the show’s upcoming final season.
