FOLSOM-

Trim wait times at emergency rooms? There’s an app for that.

Dignity Health and its hospitals are giving their emergency room patients the opportunity to cut down on their time in the waiting room.

Through a program called “InQuicker”, Dignity hospitals, like Mercy Hospital in Folsom, allow patients to go online and make an appointment to see a doctor. They can also fill out any paperwork needed from the comfort of their home.

The online service is not intended for those who need immediate care, but for those who have a sprained ankle or a less severe injury.

A spokesperson for Mercy Hospital says 53% of those who make an online appointment do so on their smart phone.

Dignity Health has an “InQuicker” app that can be downloaded for easy use.
