STOCKTON-

Commercial business in Stockton is about to take off. One of the region’s leading developers, The Buzz Oates Group, is finishing the first commercial warehouse building of its kind in the area since 2008, and they’ve got several more planned in the next couple of years.

“This is a true indication of the risk-takers and investment interest in our area,” noted Michael Ammann, who is President and C.E.O. of the San Joaquin Partnership.

Many of those risk-takers gathered Wednesday morning to talk about this important turning point in the region’s business and economic growth. Mayor Anthony Silva, along with several other prominent business interest groups, spent time strategizing over what is a major opportunity for the region.

“We think we can make a good argument with us being geographically located in such a great place,” Silva said. “Next to the Port of Stockton, next to all the major rail, next to three major highways.”

“We are ‘logistics heaven’ for a lot of types of businesses who are trying to access the 14 million people in Northern and Central California,” Ammann said.

Mayor Silva also pointed to the fact that Stockton should be coming out of bankruptcy within the next 60 days to strengthen their position to do business.
