Ray D’arcy helps raise €500k for charity

Listeners to the Ray D’Arcy Show on Today FM have helped raise €500,000 for LauraLynn Ireland’s Children’s Hospice.

Over 1,700 people walked, jogged and ran a 21km course in Dublin’s Phoenix Park alongside Ray to benefit the charity, which aims to deliver respite, palliative and end-of-life care support in the family home.

Ray was joined by team members Mairead Farrell, Siobhan Hogan and show Producer and wife Jenny Kelly for her first ever half marathon. A host of celebrities including Bressie and Karl Henry were also on hand to support the cause and lend their legs for Laura Lynn.

“This was a dream of mine, but even I doubted we could reach this target,” Ray said. “I’m blown away by the generosity of everyone involved, from those who donated their time in the organisation of the event to the tens of thousands who donated, but most importantly the 1,700 people who fundraised and turned up today to run or walk a half marathon for such a worthy cause.”
