Amazon Studios‘ dark comedy Transparent has a premiere date: Friday, Sept. 26.
All 10 episodes of Transparent will be available on that day, the first time the streaming video service will roll out a series a la Netflix’s model. (Amazon took a unique approach earlier this year, debuting Alpha House and Betas with weekly installments following a three-episode launch.)
From creator Jill Soloway (Afternoon Delight), Transparent — which has already received critical notice — centers on a Los Angeles family, the Pfeffermans, and their lives after they learn that their father, Mort (Jeffrey Tambor), is transitioning to become a woman. Amy Landecker, Jay Duplass, Gaby Hoffmann and Judith Light co-star.
With the Wednesday announcement comes an official season-one trailer, which you can watch above. “So I have something to tell you,” Mort, dressed as a woman, tells one of his grown children (Landecker), which starts a chain of events that will dramatically change the Pfeffermans. Plus, there’s a glimpse of guest star Kathryn Hahn.
