With its latest event title Avengers & X-Men: Axis just over a month away from launch, Marvel Entertainment has released a video primer for fans who aren’t up-to-date with the current status quo of its comic book universe, condensing the last two years of flagship series Uncanny Avengers into three minutes.
In addition to condensing the main points of writer Rick Remender’s storyline to date into something understandable for newcomers — well, as long as newcomers can overlook obvious questions like “Who are the Apocalypse Twins and Kang, anyway?” — the video promotes the current Marvel comics that lead up to Axis’ October launch: Uncanny Avengers, Magneto, Loki: Agent of Asgard and Captain America.
The Axis event is one of two major Marvel storylines launching in the next few months, with the regular Avengers and New Avengers series jumping ahead eight months in terms of story next month for “Time Runs Out,” which concentrates on after-effects Axis will have on the Marvel Universe, like a morally-compromised Iron Man and brand new Thor.
Avengers & X-Men: Axis No. 1 is released Oct. 8 digitally and in comic stores. “Time Runs Out” begins in Avengers No. 35, available in comic stores and digitally Sept. 17.
