CALAVERAS COUNTY-

The Calaveras Unified School District needs to cut nearly $2 million from its 2015-2016 school year budget, and that means some schools will be shut down.

In the first phase of cuts, the board promised not to cut out the sports program at Calaveras High School, however, students and staff are not trusting that promise.

An assembly to raise awareness and raise money was held on campus Thursday Morning.

Coaches participated in challenges including blind make-up and shaving their head to raise awareness and challenge others.
