  1. This is wonderful news! I've been wanting this in high definition for some time. No actor, living or dead, has ever come close to interpreting to A. Conan Doyle's creation as well as Jeremy Brett. Especially in the early years, when Brett's health was still good, he was the quintessential Holmes. He brought great intelligence and a deep love for the material to the character. In an interview once I heard him say that for the one week they spent in rehearsals, one half of the week he spent "fighting for Doyle"; which meant he tried to get the director and producer to make it as faithful to the material as possible. God bless him for that and for the masterful way he brought Holmes to life! He was a wonderful actor and delightful in all his roles, but it is his work on Sherlock Holmes for which he will be remembered fondly for as long as people continue to love the brilliant detective.

  2. I totally agree with you Dallas! I've been waiting for this to come out on Blu-ray for a long time. I heard the same thing about Brett that you mentioned and I'm glad that he cared so much about the character and the work to fight for it. Let's hope that this set has some great extras on it! Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment!
